I'm trying to formulate a training plan for me to progress to a Thanatos... that adds a massive chunk into the time it will take. Anyone got any suggestions please?
(accidentally posted on alt :S sorry)
As so many have mentioned, you need high on Perception and willpower plus the learning skills relatively high to get that skill down on a decent time. I know that learning skills are boring to train, but they are worth it!
Also you are thinking of carriers.. a few tip:
1. The neccesary carrier skills are just a absolute minimum! But so should the support skills too be really for carriers! And those needs to be high!
2. Carriers are like a shining beacon on a very dark night! It is seen by "everyone" and a lonely carrier is just plain and simple DEAD!
3. Finance. its costy. Its expensive! Before buying a carrier you should ask yourself this question: Can I be "survive" the loss of 2,5 billion isk? If yes? Then sure, go ahead! If not.. Then you should not buy it!
4. Usage. Do you really have use for it? Carriers are corp/alliance support ships. They are nice to deploy during wartime. The carrier gives support to the combat ships, and the combat ships give "protection" to the carriers. A carrier without some protection is usually dead. Although if there are any carrier ships that can take care of itself it must be the Thanatos, mainly because of the large Drone capasity. But dont take my words on this for granted. Even after 3,5 years in EVE I dont fly capships myself...
My suggestions:
Train learning skills Train ship skills (Battleship is a good choice, but so it frigates and cruisers etc.) Train support skills etc.
But if you have a main character and want to throw this into a fully blown carrier pilot.. sure! Go ahed! But dont forget the support skills! You will need em!
